LeBron is the worst kind of teammate: he plays Glory Ball. In his mind, as Harden would say, "he's a system." And in the LeBron System, he is always the best guy to have in the position representing the most potential glory, literally moment by moment. This means everyone needs to sense whenever he''s ready to transition from being a lazy off ball defender to then being the guy ready to go for the block, the steal, the highlight. You can see him thinking "better me than them" about his teammates in every situation, be it a, uncontested pull down rebound, or him reaching into his bag that's as deep as the 5th pocket on a pair of jeans. When he isn't tossing up inflammatory low percentage 2's and never there 3's, he's gift wrapping grenades, ensuring someone else's shooting percentage can suffer. Moment to moment, HE would characterize as "him not trusting his teammates" for whatever reason, or "him trying to step up for the team in every moment," but what it REALLY is is that the man has no respect for the skill set of any of his teammates or coaches He is playing against his team and the opponent every time he is on the court. He's believed the narrative that he never has help and as such he can't recognize that AD is a better on Ball and Rim Protector than he is; he's blind to the fact that AR15 is better at navigating screens than he is and s also a better shooter from deep; and now with Luka, it's obvious LeBron CANNOT FATHOM that someone is a better scorer, more capable of creating his own shot from the ISO, while also being a better distributor, than he is. And when reality presses on this bubble of insuferrability; he freaks out like a child, throwing tantrums and throwing up his arms and pointing out how it's everyone else's fault, largely because, and this is my own speculation, somewhere in his psyche he knows he is self sabotaging the team and it's his guilt surrounding that idea (not to go full Jungian here) that makes his attempts at hiding it so demonstrable. He's the worst.
